John is the most recent addition to the staff at Clarkson Road, having arrived in April 2005. A graduate of Vancouver School of Theology in 1996, John previously served as Associate Minister of St. John's Presbyterian Church in Cornwall, Ontario from 1997 to 2000, and then as Presbyterian Chaplain to the University of Western Ontario from 2000 to 2004. John has worked at all levels of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, and is thrilled to be a part of the life and community of Clarkson Road Presbyterian Church.

On a personal note, John met his wife-to-be The Rev. Sarah Fanning (now of Parkwoods United Church, Don Mills) while they were both serving in or near London, Ontario. They married in February 2003, and both came to serve new pastoral charges in the Greater Toronto Area in 2005. In December 2005, they welcomed their first child, Megan Elizabeth Fanning-Crowdis, who is now teaching John the humbling lessons of parenthood. Some of these include recognizing drool-stains on suits, how to change diapers while still in clerical robes, and being thrilled with something as simple as a smile.

Roger Brown
Organist and Choir Director

A key part of our worship life, Roger has led the choir since the fall of 1997. He brings considerable gifts not only in the performance of music, but especially in his ability to teach both the choir and congregation. Roger is known to many in the community as the Department Head of Music at nearby Lorne Park Secondary School, and as such this experience brings a broad range of music style and talent to the choir. On several occasions, Roger has brought some of his talented students at the school to help lead us in worship, and as a way of teaching them about the practical uses of music in a societal setting.

While a “cradle” Presbyterian, Roger is very ecumenically minded, working with St. Ignatius of Loyola Roman Catholic Church along with his wife Pat, and has organized ecumenical celebrations of music that the choir of Clarkson Road has often participated in.
